Acer AU Aspire & Acer AU Power computers usually ship their computers with one or more hard drive data Recovery CDs (also known as Acer AU Win XP Recovery CDs, hard drive Recovery CDs, hard drive Restore CDs or hard drive data Restore CDs). The Acer AU Aspire Recovery CDs & Acer AU Power Recovery CDs are specifically designed for your Acer AU computer, usually contain an image of what was on the computers hard drive when it was first bought, & they allow you to return the machine to its original state (as new). This is particularly useful if the machine has been attacked by a virus, if the original hard drive has developed a fault, or if you simply wish to replace or upgrade the hard drive, & need to re-install your original software.

The Acer AU Win XP Recovery CDs are also sometimes referred to as Win XP installation CDs because they completely erase the contents of your hard drive & then re-install your operating system (Win XP). However, they differ from normal Win XP installation disks in that they usually restore all programs which were originally installed on the hard drive when the computer was first purchased (any additional programs or files which were not originally installed will be overwritten).

This is because; if your PC has been attacked by a virus, or worse still; is infected with a virus which you cannot remove, the best course of action is often to re-install Win XP from your Acer AU Win XP Recovery CDs or Acer AU Ferrari Win XP Restore CDs & then install quality anti virus & anti spyware programs .

If your computer has a faulty hard disk drive (eg; if the hard drive cannot be "seen" by the computer, if it has bad sectors, bad blocks or is making a clicking or loud whirling noise), the best course of action is usually to completely replace the hard drive & restore Win XP & the original software from your hard drive data recovery CD. This process will usually involve replacing the hard drive & then placing the Acer Recovery CDs in the CD ROM or DVD ROM drive & re-booting the system. The computer should then boot from the Acer AU Recovery CDs & this will then return the computer to its original state (as new).

All Acer AU computers need to use small programs called drivers. Drivers simply tell the computer about items which are built into it (such as a sound card; for producing sound, video card for producing graphics etc), or attached to it (such as a scanner or printer). One of the advantages of owning a Branded PC is that the hard drive data recovery CD (hard drive data restore CD) will usually contain drivers for all of the items which are built into it, & these are needed for the PC to work correctly.
